We used Orkin for many years trying to knock down carpenter bees, wasps and hornets on the outside of our home. They were moderately successful with the wasps and hornets but their application did nothing to control the carpenter bees which was the primary reason we hired them. But two years ago, one of their techs admitted to me that they are aware that their product doesn't work on carpenter bees so I looked into an alternative approach and found these bee traps. The angle and size of the hole in the wood block is irresistible for carpenter bees and they get trapped in the jar. Last year I hung four traps outside and it reduced the carpenter bee population by about 75%. This year I added four more and it has decimated them. I estimate the population is down by 95% or more. And for some reason, even though I didn't retain Orkin to spray for wasps and hornets, their populations are way down too. We can enjoy the outside without being bothered by these pests and we don't have someone coming to our house to hose it down with chemicals. If you have a carpenter bee and/or wasp and hornet problem, try any of the bee traps that look like the one in the picture. You won't be disappointed.

We’ve had Orkin pest control service since we moved into our house a little over 2 years ago. They spray every other month and the bug activity has decreased dramatically. However, when they first came out we had them checking and setting traps for mice as we found a dead one in the basement and signs of previous activity in the attic over the garage. After a couple months of inactivity they essentially gave us the all clear. About a month ago I started finding carpet beetles in my closet and had them come out and inspect the attic as I have access through my closet. They said the carpet beetles weren’t that bad, but there is significant mice activity that looks like it’s been going on for 2-3 years! I get that all pest activity can’t be stopped but this seems like a pretty big oversight after my initial assessment and continued service the last 2+ years. They will now be sweeping out our attic insulation, sanitizing, and installing new to the tune of $5000. My main complaint though is slowness and lack of communication through this process. It has now been 3 weeks since the inspector gave us a plan of someone coming to bait and trap and then having the attic done in 2-3 weeks. It took 10 days to get the attic scheduled (for 4 weeks after inspection) and at this moment I still don’t have anything scheduled for baiting and trapping - which they wanted done BEFORE the attic gets swept out! I have reached out to the inspector multiple times and left a message with the office. They say they are understaffed, which is understandable and I have been patient to this point. But 3 weeks without even calling to try and schedule someone to come out and bait and trap for an active mice situation in which a customer is paying $5000 for you to clear the attic is RIDICULOUS!
