I had used Orkin before (had an annual contract). So, when we got ready to sell our house and were faced with an “box elder” bug swarm infestation, we immediately remembered our previous positive service results with Orkin. I called them, explaining our situation, and was able to arrange an appointment with their service technicians, almost immediately. The price was right and they came out and performed a site assessment and immediately applied, what appeared to be a thorough pesticide treatment all around our house. Both the inspector and technician seemed very knowledgeable and took time to explain why and how they were going to address the issue. Hopefully, their prescription works. In any event Orkin provided a 30 day window in which, if not satisfied, I could have them come back and readdress the issue, if the bugs returned. So, we’re hoping a follow up visit won’t be necessary. We are impressed, again, with their promptness and professionalism.

Had them out to take care of a European or Bell hornet nest behind a hidden panel of a hot tub. Normally I take care of small nests myself but couldn't see the nest to know how many I would be dealing with and those dudes are BIG! After thr technician removed the corner paneling to reveal the nest I was glad that I didn't attempt it, but he stuck with it and was able to destroy the nest. Service was a little pricey compared to others but I worried my dogs would get into it and just needed it gone. Job well done.

Called for a one time treatment. Quoted over $330.00; OBSCENE. I really recommend you price before you commit. I found an equally reputable company that charged $150.00 for the same service and said they would charge $95.00 to come back three months later. m It also had the same guarantee!!

I have no idea how this particular branch of Orkin has so many great reviews. My family and I moved to Newport News from Smithfield. After having Orkin (Chesapeake branch) for a couple of months, we figured it would be an easy transfer to start receiving services at our new home. I called Orkin (Newport News) for two weeks and was told they were still waiting for our transfer from the Chesapeake office. I talked to the Chesapeake office and they stated they had already made the transfer. Every time I called this Orkin they still had the previous home owner on file and when I finally decided to switch to another company, all of a sudden the transfer could be done immediately. I told them no thank you, please cancel the services. I asked when the cancellation would happen and they said immediately. This was May 9th. On June 6th I had been charged for services that I had not received in almost 2 months. I called and spoke to the same young lady who said she remembered me canceling. I asked to receive a refund. She said I would have to talk to the manager because she did not see a payment since April, although we were charged in May and June. I spoke to the manager who was rude and said that they have no record of us. I told her that is because they would not make the transfer for over 2 weeks; however, the receptionist just stated she remembers talking to me several times. She finally said they would refund us June’s payment but I still had services scheduled. I asked her how if y’all don’t even have us on file, whose house will you be servicing? It is now June 24th and we still have not received our refund. My husband called today and was told “it’s not them” and was transferred to Chesapeake’s office. They were able to finally cancel our services; however, our refund has to be “sent up” smh. Orkin is a HORRIBLE company! Also, the technician who serviced us in Smithfield smelled of alcohol but I just let it go because at least we were getting services. The Newport News branch was even worse because we could get no services at all.

I commend all Orkin staff members: office - Felicia and Lorraine- and all service providers-the amazing woman who destroyed a huge bald-faced hornet's nest on the side of my house (I wish I could remember her name): and Shamonte Sexton my personal treatment provider. Felicia and Lorraine were always so gracious in arranging treatment times to fit my schedule. Shamonte Sexton is very knowledgeable, gracious, and professionall. He explained everything he was doing and why and what I can do in my yard and home to help eliminate and prevent pests. He always asks if I have more questions or concerns. He always texts when he is on his way and then when he arrives to my home. Very helpful. I commend Orkin's Human Resource and Employee Education and Trainng Department for their ability to recognize high value employees and provide initial and ongoing education and training. I always feel comfortable having any Orkin Profesional in my home.
